A Preschool with Heart
At Playbox Preschool, we believe early learning should be joyful. Our teachers combine professional expertise with genuine warmth to create mornings filled with laughter, curiosity, and care. Children learn by doing, exploring, and imagining because play is the work of childhood—and we build every part of our program around that philosophy.
Playbox Preschool was founded by the teachers of Playbox Nursery School after it closed, ending 40 years of operation. Our goal was to preserve the long-standing legacy of play-based, community-focused early learning that generations of Oakville families have loved.
Under teacher ownership, Playbox Preschool offers the same heart, care, and community that have always defined Playbox, while bringing a refreshed focus on connection and belonging.

Ms. Karen
Owner & Supervisor
I’m proud to be the owner and supervisor of Playbox Preschool.
I earned my childcare qualifications in the U.K. in 2003 and have worked with children from birth to age 11 in daycares, preschools, and elementary schools.
Preschoolers have always been my favourite age group — they’re so curious and full of personality. It’s a privilege to be part of their early learning journey and to help them grow in confidence.
My family and I moved from the U.K. to Canada in early 2024, and we’ve loved settling into life here in Oakville. Outside of Playbox, I’m usually cheering on my four kids at a rugby pitch or swimming pool, hiking with our dog, or enjoying a good book when I find a quiet moment.

Hello! My name is Lisa, and I’m so proud to be part of the Playbox team.
I’ve been a Registered Early Childhood Educator for more than 30 years and have worked with children of all ages — from infants to school-aged. Preschoolers have always had a special place in my heart. Their energy, curiosity, and love of learning make every day exciting and rewarding.
I’ve lived in Oakville for many years and raised my three children here — now adults and pursuing their own paths. Along the way, I coached soccer, volunteered at their schools, and proudly wore the title of hockey mom.

Hello! My name is Katherine, and I’m so happy to be part of the Playbox team.
I’ve been with Playbox for over eight years. It’s such a joy to spend my days supporting the children as they learn, grow, and discover the world around them.
Originally from the U.K., my husband and I moved to Oakville more than 20 years ago and quickly fell in love with its small-town feel. Both of our children, Jacob and Lara, attended Playbox when they were little — so this school holds a very special place in my heart.
When I’m not at Playbox, you’ll find me reading, skiing, kayaking, or spending time with my family at the cottage.
